Frequently asked questions
The UK's love affair with houseplants has blossomed and faded through the centuries, influenced by social shifts, technological advances, and global exploration. In 17th & 18th centuries, houseplants were a status symbol, with popularity souring during the 19th century as Victorian exploration brought an influx of tropical and subtropical plants. Early 20th century saw minimalism diminish popularity as Victorian displays were viewed as old fashioned, but by the 50s, interest was again on the rise.
An awareness of plants' positive impacts on mental and physical wellbeing, and a desire to reconnect with nature has driven the current obsession with houseplants, amplified by social media fostering online communities - from those who nurse plants back to health, to interior designers leaning into Japandi and farmhouse style trends.
An Interior Garden Designer takes the time to understand you, your space and your aesthetic so they can provide a plan, much like an Interior Designer, or Garden Designer would, to bring plants into your home, in the right place, where they can thrive. The level of service depends on how involved you want to be in selecting and caring for your plants. A typical service looks a bit like this...
45 minute + briefing meeting to understand what you want to achieve, and to assess the spaces available to house plants including calculating aspects, light levels, humidity etc. and taking into consideration external influences we may want to reflect in the house.
Your Interior Garden Designer builds a plant and aesthetics design overview which includes proposed styles of planting, potting, dressing and any other sundries such as plant lights required to achieve your desired look.
45 minute + meeting to review the overview design and provide feedback.
The design is refined and updates shared digitally for approval.
A detailed plan is drawn up including specific plants, planting, dressing and costs for approval. This could include commissioned pots or dressing to achieve the bespoke look that perfectly compliments your home.
Once the final plan is approved, your Interior Garden Designer will source your plants, pots and dressing direct from the growers and makers.
All preparation is done offsite before installing the planting design.
A simple care plan is provided for the household, and if required, you can subscribe to a notification system to remind you when to feed and water your plants.
You then have the option for your Interior Garden Designer to continue to monitor your plants in accordance with their habits and needs. This may include periodical health checks, repotting, pruning, feeding etc.
An Interior Garden Designer serves those looking for statement planting to compliment their beautiful home, who don't have the time or knowledge to achieve their desired look and maintain the health and happiness of their plants, and are happy to invest in their plants as a key element of their decor.

Yes, our plants are sourced direct from Spain, Holland and sometimes further afield to ensure the most beautiful, healthiest plants are provided. A minimum order is therefore required to make this level of service viable, and this can vary depending on the variety of planting being installed. As an example, a single source planting plan is likely to require a minimum order value of £500 on greenery alone.
